Cavity Wall Extraction

Damp problems are the main reason for cavity wall insulation removal.

It is usually caused by poorly maintained exterior brickwork, severe exposure to wind and rain, lack of protection from other buildings and trees, or a combination of the three.

Rain could penetrate the outer wall, bridge the cavity via the insulation material and transfer moisture to internal walls, causing damp.

Purpose
Cavity wall extraction is used when insulation is damaged, poorly installed, or causing damp or mould.

Process
A professional uses compressed air to break down the insulation in the cavity, then an industrial vacuum collects the debris from strategically removed bricks. A borescope is used to inspect the cavity throughout the process to ensure all damaged insulation has been removed.

Time
The time it takes to extract cavity wall insulation depends on the size of the property, but it can take up to two working days for a two-person team to extract a three-bedroom semi-detached house.

Cost
The cost of cavity wall insulation removal can start from around £1,680 for a typical property.
